Arrived in Jakarta

Day 1

overcast

After a 24 hour journey we finally arrived in the capital city of the Indonesian island of Java!!!

The flight was long but the service was really good. We flew with WestJet to Vancouver and changed flights to Cathay Pacific where we flew to Hong Kong then to Jakarta. It was almost like being on a WestJet flight with Cathay Pacific, with TV's in our seats but a bit more room for the feet. The food was..well, it was airplane food, there's not much to say about that. The connections that we had in Vancouver and Hong Kong went smoothly and fortunately none of our luggage got lost along the way :)

As a reminder for any travelers, don't forget your passports (I almost did) and remember that they have to be valid for at least 6 month from when you enter the country, as well you will need to get a tourist VISA before you leave. We did notice when we arrived that you can get the VISA here, but it's probably a lot easier to get it all done back home like we did.

We've heard some of the locals here speak their language called Bahasa Indonesia, which means "the language of Indonesia". Hopefully we can pick up a few words and phrases along our journeys!!

We need to make our way to the bank tomorrow to exchange more of our money for the local currency of Rupiah which is approx. 1 CAD = 9,214.04 IDR (we're going to be rich!!).

Just to show you all where we are and what the country looks like I'm putting in a map of the region to give you a better idea of where we are going and where we are.

This is Indonesia

As for now we are extremely tired so we're heading off to bed! It's only 5:00pm...
Good night everyone

Dear travellerspoint blogger,

Luckyly me that I found your interesting blog. I am from Indonesia. I would like to have a survey about Indonesian Tourism Branding. So, I would like to request to the blogger who have been to Indonesia to fill my questionnaire (Non Indonesian Citizens only): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dEo1LWtXc2txWVZLRDh0RUNRcWtEVFE6MQ

I would like to appreciate your participation in this survey, which should take just over 5-10 minutes to complete.

Regards
